Throat Surgeries

Advanced Laryngology, Pharyngeal, and Head & Neck Surgeries at Elite Health Care

Disorders affecting the throat, voice box (larynx), and neck structures can affect fundamental aspects of daily life, such as speaking, swallowing, and breathing. Whether dealing with chronic tonsil infections, snoring/sleep apnea, voice cord lesions, or neck masses, having access to advanced surgical care is key to a successful recovery.

At Elite Health Care, we provide advanced medical and surgical treatments for throat and neck conditions. Guided by Dr. Venus Tilavat Patel, we utilize minimally invasive technologies like Coblation, laser surgery, and microlaryngeal instrumentation to achieve precise outcomes with minimal pain and faster recovery times.

Our Surgical Procedures

Microlaryngeal Surgery (MLS) for Voice and Throat Cancer

The delicate vocal cords require a highly precise, bloodless field to ensure optimal voice preservation during surgery. Most voice disorders (such as persistent hoarseness or loss of voice) are caused by benign growths like nodules, polyps, or cysts on the vocal cords.

  • Microlaryngeal Surgery (MLS): A high-precision procedure performed through the mouth using a surgical microscope and specialized micro-instruments. This allows our surgeon to precisely remove lesions from the vocal cords without damaging surrounding tissue.
  • Early Throat Cancer Diagnostics: Using advanced laryngoscopy and biopsy techniques, we perform early diagnosis of laryngeal (throat) cancer, ensuring timely and life-saving interventions.

Coblation Tonsillectomy (Advanced Tonsil Removal)

Chronic or recurrent tonsillitis is a common and painful condition affecting children and young adults. When surgical removal (tonsillectomy) is indicated, precision and post-operative comfort are our priorities.

  • Coblation Tonsillectomy: A modern, gentle alternative to traditional cold-knife steel surgery. Coblation (controlled ablation) combines low-temperature radiofrequency energy with saline to dissolve the tonsil tissue molecule by molecule.
  • Key Benefits:
    • Shorter Procedure Time: Much faster and cleaner than traditional dissection.
    • Minimal Blood Loss: The coblation wand seals blood vessels as it works.
    • Reduced Post-Operative Pain: Operates at much lower temperatures than cautery, minimizing thermal damage to surrounding throat muscles.
    • Faster Recovery: Patients experience a significantly faster return to normal diet and activity.

Snoring & Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Surgeries

Snoring occurs when the soft tissues at the back of the throat relax during sleep and vibrate as air passes over them. In severe cases, this is accompanied by Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), where the airway temporarily collapses.

We offer specialized snoring surgeries to open the airway and stiffen or remove obstructing tissues:

  • Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP): Reconstructs the throat layout by removing excess tissue from the soft palate and uvula to widen the airway.
  • Laser-Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP): A laser-based procedure to trim or reshape the uvula and palate.
  • Palatal Stiffening (CAPSO): A minimally invasive procedure that creates a small, controlled scar on the soft palate to reduce vibrations and snoring.
  • Radiofrequency Ablation (Somnoplasty): Uses low-temperature energy to shrink tissues in the soft palate or tongue base.

Oral Cancer Surgeries

Oral cancer can develop in the lips, gums, tongue, inner lining of the cheeks, roof, or floor of the mouth. Major risk factors include tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption, and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

  • Comprehensive Surgical Resection: We perform precise surgeries to remove oral tumors, ensuring safe margins while preserving function and cosmetics. Early signs to watch for include non-healing mouth sores, lumps, or persistent red/white patches. Treatment is tailored and may include surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy.

Neck Surgeries (Thyroid, Parotid, and Submandibular Glands)

Swelling or masses in the neck can arise from infections, lymph node enlargements, or tumors within the salivary and endocrine glands:

  • Salivary Gland Surgeries: Safe removal of diseased parotid or submandibular glands while preserving the nearby facial nerves.
  • Thyroidectomy: Removal of all or part of the thyroid gland for nodules, goiters, or thyroid cancer.
  • Cervical Lymph Node Biopsy / Neck Dissection: Requisite surgical clearance of infected or neoplastic lymph nodes.
